Electrical components and wiring should never be fixed subpar by someone who is not a professional. When we come across fixes like these, the workers never take in effect how the material they are using to fix it will react in the long run to heat and electrical current. Not only does this create a hazard, it is a fineable offense by OSHA and does not NFPA 70e code.
